Vampire / Goth gown 

This fantasy dress is made from a sheath of unlined purple-blue stretch panné velvet, fitted with darts and gathered between the breasts.  The halter neckline is attached to a stand-up collar of batwing design, made of pleated metallic fabric backed with velvet and wired.  Also attached to the halter are straps supporting full puff sleeves of matching velvet.  These are followed by separate elasticized "ghost" sleeves, cut out in scallops along the length of the arm, and attached to the middle finger with a loop.  These are made of a deeper shade of crushed velvet and lined with silver "sparklee" rayon.  The hem of the gown is cut into deep triangular dags alternated with purple lace handkerchief insets, which themselves are topped with metallic silver fabric "ghost" accents.  The dress also looks good with a corset on top of it, but does not require one! Variations include different necklines, sleeve styles, draped-on trains, etc.
